Summary:
Preserving Irish Traditional Music in Chicago: Francis O'Neill examines the role played by Chicago’s Chief of Police from 1901-1904 in the collection, promotion, and publication of Irish traditional music in Chicago. It features documents from O'Neill's life as a traveler and sailor; as Chicago's Chief of police, as well as information about his process of collecting and preserving traditional Irish music in the Chicago diaspora.
